The Cytof and Hyperion are moving to a new UBC Core lead by Dr Tillie Hackett (cytof.ubc.ca). They continue to be housed in the SBME building, but all billing and scheduling is outside of the UBC flow core currently.

CyTof Mass Cytometer

Mass cytometry with Helios™ uses CyTOF® technology to enable deep profiling of translational and clinical research samples across a range of cell surface and intracellular markers.

With mass cytometry, you can simultaneously interrogate cellular phenotype, function and signaling status in a single tube. Optional fixed- or live-cell barcoding improves data quality and workflow ease.

The use of heavy metal isotope tags to label cellular targets combined with the precision of mass spectrometry ensures background signals are negligible and signal overlap is minimized. For these reasons, designing high-dimensional panels is not constrained by the limitations of traditional fluorescence methods.

Cytek Aurora (future option)

  • Spectral flow is an area we need to move into to support researchers needs.
  • Product info

A prodigy built from the Cytek® Aurora system’s unique combination of innovative technologies that takes cell sorting to the next level of performance and flexibility. With up to five lasers, three scattering channels, and 64 fluorescence channels, the Aurora CS is designed to leverage the paradigm-shifting technology
onboard the Cytek Aurora and deliver the sorting capabilities you have come to expect in a high-end sorter.
Like Aurora, the CS provides the benefits of full spectrum profiling (FSP™) technology. Its optical design and unmixing algorithm provide scientists increased flexibility, enabling the use of a wide array of new fluorochrome combinations without reconfiguring the system for each application. The state-of-the-art optics and low-noise electronics provide high resolution, high content and high sensitivity.

Sony Spectral Analyser ID7000 (future option)

Designed to Empower Deep Scientific Insights

The ID7000™ spectral cell analyzer supports high-parameter flow cytometry by delivering comprehensive information about heterogeneous cell populations, with high sensitivity to detect dim and rare populations.

Expanding the capabilities of cell analysis, the ID7000 can be configured with up to 7 lasers and 186 detectors, the most of any flow cytometer available today. The system enables researchers to perform experiments using 44 colors or more, limited only by the fluorochromes available. Laser choices range from deep ultraviolet (320 nm) to infrared (808 nm). The system’s detection capability enables expansion of multicolor panels and can keep pace with future fluorochrome development.
